The position is preferred to be local to the Reading UK office and predominately office based but would be required to go to customer sites.
Primary Roles & Responsibilities:
Develop accurate forecast of the cost, size, and duration of future projects. Collect and analyze data on all of the factors that can affect costs.
Participate in pre-bidding decision making efforts; review preliminary drawings and specifications, perform site visits, gather information related to site access; the availability of electricity, access to network centers, and related. Fully document information obtained.
Prepare estimate of the materials, labor, subcontractors and equipment required to perform the statement of work (SOW).
Analyze bids made by subcontractors and build into the estimate.
Identify equipment needs, sequence of operations, labor specialties, crew size, and physical constraints at the site as well as allowances for wasted materials, inclement weather, shipping delays, and other factors that may increase costs must be incorporated in the estimate.
Develop a cost summary for the entire project.
Establish budget and control factors for project costs and review with sales and the project management office.
Continuously develop and enhance knowledge, skills and abilities through various learning channels to expand technical and non-technical capabilities. Ensure further expansion of computer aided design systems and understanding of products & services that BBOX supports.
Meet all financial performance objectives for area of responsibility and take corrective action as needed.
Implement and make recommendations to improve methodologies, core competencies and processes for deployment engineering to ensure stable and quality product & service delivery consistent with company objectives and client expectations.
Actively and consistently recommend and support all efforts to improve, simplify, automate and enhance day to day service delivery operations and the client experience.
Achieve performance targets established by leadership for applicable Key Performance Indicators.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Education / Experience Requirements
Minimum of 5 years estimating experience with structured cabling, fiber optic and low voltage systems design, engineering, estimating and installation. Telecommunications Industry (large to complex projects) (voice-data infrastructure/backbone/Data Centers) preferred.
Certified Data Centre Design Professional (CDCDP), or Certified Network Infrastructure Design Professional (CNIPD) preferred.
Skilled in review and analysis of infrastructure scopes of work as the basis for determining how much a project/job will cost, how long the project/job will take to complete and how much revenue it should generate.
Demonstrated success in analysis of factors such as labor costs, material costs, equipment rentals, specific software and hardware, project location, permitting, and licensing with a track record of accurate change management, job costing and budgeting.
Depth of knowledge with a wide variety of cabling materials and methods of installation as well as local code(s), and BSEN/EIA/TIA/BICSI Standards as well as site, local, and AHJ guidelines and regulations.
Proven skills in reliability and dependability demonstrated through completing tasks on time and with minimal supervision, punctual and present for work, informing appropriate individuals when work will not be completed in agreed upon time frame.
Strong client service orientation with effective interpersonal skills necessary to communicate, solve problems, and negotiate with tact and diplomacy.
Demonstrated experience of continuously expanding and leveraging knowledge of technology, market and industry trends with success in identifying, recommending and implementing best practices and methodologies.
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and knowledge and use of Outlook, SharePoint, ERP, AutoCAD, MS Visio.
